Automation Hero October 2019: Mattias Pohlin of Jönköping Healthcare Region

Mattias Pohlin, Materials Planner at Jönköping Healthcare Region, has improved service levels and streamlined the procurement process. That’s why he’s October’s Automation Hero.

Name: Mattias Pohlin
Job title: Materials Planner
Company: Jönköping Healthcare Region

Congratulations on the award Mattias! Could you tell us a little about yourself? What’s your role and how do you get involved in automation?

I work as a materials planner and am responsible for the purchasing of consumable materials for the Jönköping Healthcare Region. With the help of EazyStock, we’ve been able to automate our reorder suggestions and reorder point calculations. The system also automatically calculates which items we should have on the shelf and which we should order when needed.

What “red flags” made you realize that you needed to invest in automation?

Before EazyStock, we used to manually review every reorder suggestion, which was not only a time-consuming process, but could also lead to errors. In addition, the inventory management system we had failed and there was no longer any support available. Therefore we started looking for an alternative solution.

How has your work changed since you implemented EazyStock?

I clearly have more detailed information and insights on every item I manage. The system recalculates all replenishment parameters daily which means that we detect demand changes much earlier than before. Not having to review every item manually allows me to spend my time on other focus areas. Right now, for example, I’m working on a number of alert reports and forecasts.

How has automation with EazyStock helped the Jönköping County region?

EazyStock has helped us to reduce our overall inventory value and to ensure that we have the items with the highest turnover in stock, which has resulted in a significant increase in our service levels.

What other types of automation tools do you use today?

At present, EazyStock is the only automated tool we use.

What do you think about the future of automation?

I believe that most things in the warehouse industry will become automated to further improve efficiency. This will provide a more productive and more profitable business, so I look forward to more automation!
